FOOTBALL HONORS

Several athletes with local ties have earned distinction as 2010 all-league selections.

The Class AA champion Bok Wildcats are well represented on the All-Public team with junior tackle Marqui Alfriend, senior linebacker Khalil Neal, junior running back Shaquil Sammons, senior nose guard Maurice T-Toe and junior split end Jihad Ward.

Representing the Furness Falcons are senior defensive lineman Sirea Boone, senior defensive back Maurice Harris, senior offensive lineman Nadim Harris, senior defensive lineman Kevin Hayes and junior running back Sharif Smith.

Senior wide receiver Charles Barber, sophomore quarterback Troy Johnson and junior offensive lineman Tommy Tann are representing the Prep Charter Huskies.

Southern senior linebacker Henry Anhalt and senior cornerback Kenny Johnson also have received nods.

In Catholic League news, Grays Ferry resident Michael Keir, a sophomore, has received All-Catholic recognition as Roman Catholic Cahillites’ quarterback.

POINT BREEZE WINTER BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Point Breeze Civic Association is holding registrations for its winter basketball league beginning Nov. 29. at Edwin H. Vare School,c 2100 S. 24th St. Coed competition for ages 10 to 12 is slated for Mondays and boys’ competition for ages 13 to 15 will be Wednesdays. SEYYAA INDOOR SOCCER

SEYAA is accepting registrations for its indoor soccer program for ages 4 to 7. All games are played at Taggart School, Fifth and Porter streets.
