BARBECUE CHALLENGE

Former Phillie Garry Maddox hosts his eighth annual Barbecue Challenge is from 4 to 7 p.m. August 8 at Citizens Bank Park, One Citizens Bank Way. Contestants can enter in the Restaurant/Caterer Division or the Pit Masters Division. Categories include chicken, ribs and a chef’s choice. Visitors can enjoy family-friendly entertainment and sample barbecue and other foods prepared by participating restaurants. Sampling tickets are available (3 for $10) and can be redeemed at participating stands while supplies last. All proceeds benefit the Youth Golf & Academics Program. GOLF CAMP

The Philadelphia Department of Recreation is holding a golf camp at the Cobbs Creek Golf Club, 72nd St. and Lansdowne Ave., for boys and girls ages 11 to 15 August 3 to 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The $60 fee includes instruction, T-shirt and eligibility for door prizes. SEYAA FALL OUTDOOR SOCCER

SEYAA soccer is accepting registrations for its fall outdoor soccer program 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and noon to 2 p.m. Saturdays at the SEYAA sports complex, Seventh and Bigler streets. The Sigma Sharks football and cheerleading program is holding registration for ages 6 to 13, 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 7 at Chew Playground, 19th and Ellsworth Streets, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 18 at Modell’s Sporting Goods, 24th Street and Passyunk Avenue. The cost for football is $50 and $30 for cheerleading. New participants must bring a copy of birth certificate.
