The preliminary round of the Public League boys’ basketball tournament took place Tuesday with two local teams in action. In the Class AA bracket, Prep Charter defeated Esperanza, 48-39. Byron Whiting led the Huskies with 20 points. The squad returns to action 3:15 p.m. today with a home contest against Del-Val Charter.
In other Class AA action, Audenried, the Division D champs, was eliminated by Mastery North, 67-44.
Philadelphia Electric, who plays its home games at EOM, 138 Moore St., is the top-seed in the Class AAA bracket and will host Germantown at 3:15 this afternoon.
The playoffs resume Monday with round-of-16 matchups followed by the Feb. 18 quarterfinals at neutral sites. SPR
