Traditionally, the winter solstice involves celebrations, festivals or gatherings. Tuesday morning, scores of Canadian geese and ducks opted for fraternizing at a partially frozen waters at The Lakes, Broad Street and Pattison Avenue. The placid birds enjoyed what sunlight they could, as the solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year.
