The 800 block of Percy Street made history Tuesday, becoming the city’s first porous street. The space’s permeable paving material will reduce the amount of stormwater entering the sewer system. It will likely lessen the impact of snow and ice, too, since its layer of stone underneath offers temporary storage for water as it soaks into the ground, much like the container’s contents.
