A problem that has plagued residents for years — the cleanliness (or lack thereof) of the city’s streets — is exemplified by this vacant lot on the corner of Ringgold and Morris streets. Toward the back of the space, a trash can, overgrown with vines, displays a fading symbol of former Mayor Wilson Goode’s 1984 “Philadelphia’s Pickin’ Up!” program that was designed to combat Philadelphia’s litter issues. However, the trash appears to be winning this battle.
