A Grays Ferry man suffered a gunshot wound to the head from an unknown figure Sunday.

While going to visit a friend on the 1800 block of South Corlies Street at 12:40 a.m., the complainant said he turned into the block’s rear driveway and parked his bicycle next to a green Mitsubishi Galant, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. As he entered his acquaintance’s rear yard, a stranger exited a vehicle, whose description he did not provide, that was coming down the driveway and began shooting at him.

One bullet inflicted a graze wound on the top of his head, Tolliver said, and he fell to the ground, suffering a shoulder injury. He entered a friend’s residence and called authorities, who transported him to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where, as of press time, personnel had him listed in stable condition. A detailed description of the shooter was not available.
