A hooded assailant robbed a Spanish corner store in Southeast Philly Monday.

An unknown man walked inside Hermanos Perez Grocery, 2205 S. Seventh St., at 8:15 p.m. and pointed a black handgun at a 30-year-old’s head and said, “Open the register, sit on the floor and don’t look at me,” Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The gunman grabbed $700 from the till and then struck a 42-year-old employee in the right eye with his weapon before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.

A medic unit transported the older employee to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for treatment of a cut under his eye, Tolliver said.

The offender was described as black with a medium complexion; in his early 20s; 5-foot-10; 160 pounds; thin; having short hair and a mustache; and wearing a black hoodie, white T-shirt and black jeans.
