A Lower Moyamensing bakery thwarted an attempted holdup last week.

And unknown man entered Carangi Baking Co., 2655 Iseminger St., through the unlocked rear door at 1:50 a.m. May 16, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. He pointed a handgun with a brown handle at a 28-year-old employee and said, “Where is the money?” When two more workers, a 36- and 38-year-old man, entered the room, he ordered them to stand in the corner while he tried to open the cash register. The baking trio tried to pin the thief down, but he fled the building and headed north on Iseminger.

The offender was described as black, age 20 to 25, 5-foot-10, thin, and wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
