The barber did it!

Accustomed to keeping clients’ confidence high, the proprietors of and employees at Hairs to You, 2800 S. 16th St., can brandish a bit of bravado, too, as readers have regarded their site as South Philly’s top barber shop.

“We love serving the needs of our clientele, so it’s great to have the support of community members,” Joseph Mariutti, a Girard Estate dweller who shares ownership responsibilities with Packer Park-situated Frank Narducci, said of the honor.

The nearly two-year-old Marconi establishment employs Whitman’s Michael Clancy, Packer Park’s Richie Lana and New Jersey inhabitants Michael Calvarese and Rob Van Morter, with six chairs and a Mercedez Benz seat for young boys helping them to freshen 250 weekly patrons. Offering traditional and trendy cuts, Hairs to You bills itself as a location for all ages, with customers ranging from toddlers to octogenarians, and for all walks of life, having even scored visits from professional athletes. They have promoted local causes, too, including a recent anti-bullying gathering, in the name of understanding the importance of being a neighborhood presence.

“We focus on fostering a family environment here,” Mariutti said, noting his desire to delight generations of locals. “We strive to give them the royal treatment and the red carpet.”

That includes the likely addition of eyebrow treatments and manicures, with the possible strides and actualized visions enthusing Lana.

“We put so much hard work into this place that it’s great to have recognition,” the manager said. “It’s unbelievable that people thought so much of us to vote.”

“We took leaps of faith, stuck to our guns and stayed the course,” Mariutti said. “Thanks for honoring us.”

Little Vic’s clipped its way to second-place recognition, and Victor’s showed its shears in third.
