Police are searching for a man who robbed a Newbold bank after threatening a teller Monday.

The worker stated that the offender entered the TruMark Financial Credit Union, 1931 S. Broad St., at 8:43 a.m. and approached her with a demand note, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The paper explained he intended to rob the site, had a gun on him and would kill her if she did not give him $700.

The employee, who did not notice any weapon, complied and gave him approximately $400 in various denominations. He then fled the space on foot and headed northbound on Broad Street. She described him as black and between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-10; having a medium complexion and a thin, slender build; and wearing a mask, a black Nike long-sleeved hoodie, black pants and gloves.
