A Lower Moyamensing bank was robbed for third time since July. One of the most recent alleged bandits was nabbed the same day.

Two men entered Wachovia Bank, 2227 S. Broad St., at noon Jan. 26 and one handed the teller a plastic bag and a demand note stating, “this is not a joke. I want 20s, 50s and 100s, all drawers. No dye pack or GPS. Don’t be stupid,” Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The teller handed back the note and the bag that now contained $883.75. The men fled through the parking lot eastbound toward Juniper Street.

Kevin Schaefer, 31, of the 1600 block of South Camac Street, was arrested later that day, FBI Special Agent J.J. Klaver said. He was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft, receiving stolen property, possession of an instrument of crime, terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, according to court records.

The second man has not yet been apprehended.
