South Philly can’t get enough of Green Eggs Cafe, 1306 Dickinson St., with readers honoring it with tastiest brunch menu.
While the eggs might not be physically green, the restaurant aims to be environmentally friendly by buying locally, growing herbs and spices in its rooftop garden, recycling and composting.
Since its 2009 opening, patrons have waited for tables at the coveted Passyunk Square eatery, but the dishes are worth the wait. The love affair has allowed Marconi’s Stephen Slaughter to expand his business and has resulted in readers’ naming its French toast superior in ’11 and its Sunday brunch as the place to be last year.
However, what’s ironic is Green Eggs doesn’t even have a brunch menu, technically. It offers the same bill of fare 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The menu includes customer favorites, such as red velvet pancakes and chicken and waffles Benedict, as well as a variety of sandwiches and salads.
The Fitzwater Cafe started the day in second while Sabrina’s Cafe awoke in third.
