Three assailants beat a man who refused to give them his belongings in Newbold Sunday.
A trio of bicyclists surrounded a 53-year-old man and ordered him to empty his pockets at 3 a.m. on the 1900 block of South 17th Street, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. After he declined to oblige, the men punched and kicked him, swiped his ball cap and fled in an unknown direction.
The victim headed home and a friend transported him to Methodist Hospital, Tolliver said. He was then transferred to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital for a possible broken eye socket and bleeding in his eye.
