Louis “Bent Finger Lou” Monacello, who had been facing more than five years in prison based on 2011 guilty pleas for loan-sharking and racketeering conspiracy, had his assistance in the prosecution case against reputed mob boss and Packer Park resident Joseph “Uncle Joe” Ligambi rewarded, as U.S. District Judge Eduardo Robreno sentenced him to time served. Published reports contend that the 47-year-old will receive his release for testifying before a grand jury and in two federal trials.

According to the grand jury testimony, Monacello, who lived in a former vacation home on the Jersey Shore prior to the matter, revealed that over a seven-year period, he delivered as much as $40,000 in yearly proceeds through deposits to a prison commissary account for George Borgesi, a Ligambi nephew on whose prosecution he also provided help, or through car glove-box-left endowments of cash-stuffed envelopes. He added the money came from his heading an illegal gambling and loan-sharking operation for Borgesi, who, like Ligambi, earned his release in January after authorities failed to secure convictions on gambling, loan-sharking, obstruction of justice, racketeering conspiracy and theft of medical benefits claims.
