A 28-year-old man met with misfortune in South of South last week.

Two male offenders accosted the individual at 10:37 p.m. April 17 on the 1500 block of Carpenter Street, with one striking him on the right side of his face with an unknown object and declaring “Let go of the … bag,” Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.

While holding his backpack that contained $700, identification, an iPod, a debit card and a black leather wallet, he suffered a knife nick to his left side from the second offender. The duo took the bag and flee northbound on 16th Street.

Along with the knife wound, he had a swollen left eye, Tolliver said.

The assailants were described as black with dark complexions, in their late 20s, 6-feet and 200 pounds The first instigator was wearing a black T-shirt while the second possessed a knife and was wearing a white T-shirt.
