A woman was whacked in the head with a gun and robbed in Queen Village Saturday.

The 33-year-old and a another woman of the same age were on the 700 block of South Fifth Street at 2:05 a.m. when an unknown man approached them and hit one of the women with his firearm multiple times on her head before grabbing her purse and fleeing east on Catharine Street, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The woman was transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital for the treatment of lacerations to her head.

Police recovered her cell phone in a dumpster on the 900 block of South Fifth Street, Tolliver said.

The offender was described as black with a dark complexion, in his 20s, 6 foot to 6-foot-2, thin and wearing a gray windbreaker and green and black sneakers with white soles.
