An elderly man departed a Point Breeze bus station to fetch his forgotten cell phone from home, but was mugged on the way Sunday afternoon.

While waiting for the 17 bus on the 1900 block of Dickinson Street at 6 p.m., a 70-year-old realized he had not remembered to bring his cell, so he decided to return home, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. As he walked west on Dickinson, two men on blue 10-speed bicycles approached him.

One of the men hopped off his bike and said, “stay still old head,” pointed a silver .38 caliber revolver at the man’s stomach and told his accomplice to sort through the man’s pockets, Tolliver said. The second man pulled out the man’s wallet that contained $673, an EBT card, Pennsylvania identification and a SEPTA senior citizen card. The man also stole a gold ring with a “D” surrounded by diamonds valued at $650 from his left middle finger.

The first man told the man, “Don’t move. Don’t chase me or we will shoot you” before the duo fled southbound on South 19th Street, Tolliver said.

The man with the gun was described as black with a dark complexion, in his early 20s, thin, 5-foot-7, 160 pounds, clean shaven and wearing a black hoody, sweatpants and sneakers while his accomplice was described as black, in his early twenties, thin, 5-foot-9, 155 pounds, with a thin mustache and wearing a black hoody, sweatpants and sneakers.
