A woman’s cries for help caused her attacker to run away in South of South last week.

An unknown man tackled a 27-year-old, knocking her to the ground, at 10:45 p.m. July 18 on the 2000 block of Catharine Street, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. After the fall, the perpetrator punched her in the face and tried to grab her purse. Since it was on her shoulder and under her body, he could not access it. The woman screamed and the offender fled east on Catharine and north on 20th Street.

The suspect was described as black, age 20; 6 foot; having black hair; and wearing a gray shirt and dark-colored pants.
