Residential assault

Two Whitman occupants became the victims of a home invasion Monday.

When a 30-year-old male opened his front door, two men armed with semi-automatic handguns pushed their way into his house on the 2500 block of South Reese Street at 11:50 p.m. to acquire money, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The first intruder forced the man to an upstairs bedroom, while his accomplice remained in the living room with a 31-year-old woman.

Receiving a negative response when asking for money, the first trespasser used an unknown object to strike the householder’s head, later firing one shot in an unknown direction, Tolliver said. His prey then revealed money was in a nearby drawer, so the encroacher took both residents’ ID cards, the man’s iPhone and $3,000. The interlopers fled after the female was forced to join the first complainant.

The first offender was described as black, age 20, 5-foot-10, with a thin build, and wearing a black face mask with gray stripes, a black hooded shirt, dark-colored pants and black North Face boots. The second was described as black with a medium complexion, late teens to early 20s, 5-foot-8, 160 pounds, with short hair and wearing a black Polo hat featuring a red horse, a tan Polo jacket and dark-colored jeans.
