A man tried to force a woman into her truck at a Grays Ferry gas station Friday night.

The 30-year-old woman parked in front of Hess, 3300 Grays Ferry Ave., exited her vehicle and walked to the window to purchase a pack of gum at 11:12 p.m. Upon return, an unknown man loitering between her truck and another auto pointed a black handgun at her and tried to force her into car, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The perpetrator said he wouldn’t hurt her if she listened, but she broke free and ran.

The man swiped her purse and fled through the parking lot eastbound toward 33rd Street, Tolliver said.

The man was described as black with a dark complexion, in his mid-20s, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8; having a medium build; wearing a blue Old Navy zip-up hoody, jeans and a white wool cap with ear flaps; and walking with a slight limp.
