Raising funds for Japan

To help the victims of last month’s Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, Nigro’s Auto Body, 939 Washington Ave., has partnered up with the American Red Cross to forge a relief project. For an undetermined period, customers may donate up to half of their deductible to the Bella Vista business, with the funds going to provide food, medical supplies and shelter to the distraught nation.

“My main goal is to help people,” owner Domenic Nigro said of his humanitarian stroke.
As of yesterday, the Japanese National Police Agency had confirmed 12,554 deaths, 15,077 people missing  and over 125,000 damaged or destroyed buildings.

“We hear about too many negative events,” Nigro said. “I want to turn a negative into a positive.”
