A deliveryman was assaulted as an unknown man tried to steal his truck in Pennsport.

A 36-year-old was making a delivery to Linsky Pharmacy, 1701 S. Second St., when an unknown man pushed him from behind as he entered his auto, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. As the victim turned, the man said, “Shut … up. I have a gun. Give me the keys.” He then pulled out a screwdriver and stabbed the worker in the left shoulder. The two struggled, but when the man started screaming, a crossing guard scurried over, which caused the offender to flee westbound on Morris.

A medic unit treated the man’s small puncture wound at the scene, Tolliver said.

The offender was described as Hispanic, in his mid-20s, 6-foot-5, thin, having gelled hair and a beard and wearing a black and white Adidas hoodie and blue jeans.
