A Whitman shooting left its victim’s most sensitive area in dire straits Monday.

As a 29-year-old was traveling on the 500 block of Dudley Street at 8:30 a.m., he was shot once in the groin, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.

Police found ballistics evidence and transported the man, who claims not to know the gunman who made off in an unknown direction, to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he underwent surgery and was listed in stable condition, Tolliver said. Though he was the lone target, gunfire also struck a 1991 black Lincoln, a 2000 gold Chevrolet and an ’07 red Ford.

The attacker was described a black man in his 20s, 5-foot-9, with a medium build and wearing a dark hoodie and tan khaki pants.
