Identity thieves are known to steal from mailboxes, garbage, computers and even change a person’s address to avert mail and gather personal information.
To prevent identity theft, follow these tips by the National Crime Prevention Council:
- Never give out your Social Security number.
- Memorize all passwords
- Make sure no one is hovering over you when using an ATM.
- Be skeptical toward non-reputable websites that offer prizes or giveaways.
