A Marconi man’s residence was broken into while he was away.

The 26-year-old left at 7 p.m. Friday, but when he returned at 7:30 a.m. the next day, his front door on the 2400 block of South Hicks Street was open, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The back door was also wide open. A Brink’s safe that contained various ID and $11,000, as well as an Acer laptop, a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii game console, clothes, toys, a gold Invicta watch, four speakers and two TD Bank checkbooks were taken.

Police recovered fingerprints at the scene.
