A Queen Village man is in custody for allegedly trying to rob a North Philly Dunkin’ Donuts Monday.

At 10:18 a.m., burglary details officers, serving as plainclothes personnel, were in the parking lot of the establishment because of recent armed robberies in the area. While monitoring activity, they observed a man, who supposedly wore a white mask, brandishing a black handgun as he entered the store.

The law enforcement figures followed the perpetrator in, drew their weapons and successfully subdued him. Police contend that the detained individual committed an armed robbery on Jan. 19, during which he reportedly used a BB-gun to intimidate a Family Dollar worker.

Police charged 20-year-old Russell Mason-Watts, of the 200 block of Kenilworth Street, with assault, possession of an instrument of crime, making terroristic threats and robbery. He had not posted his $125,000 bail as of press time and awaits a Feb. 10 preliminary hearing.
