Not playing around

An unknown man threatened to kill the father of a 6-year-old, who accidentally wet his car with a hose, along with spectators in Whitman Friday.

The youngster was outside playing with a hose on the 2500 block of South American Street at 1 p.m. when a 2008 turquoise Mazda coupe drove by, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. When the girl accidentally splashed the car, the unknown driver said, “You should watch what you’re … doing. You wet the inside of my car.”

Her 26-year-old father came to her defense, saying, “Watch out how you talk to my daughter. She is only a little girl. She did not mean to wet the inside of your car,” Tolliver said.

The driver had no sympathy, telling him “I will be back to [mess] you up,” Tolliver said.

A few hours later the driver returned with another man who began a verbal dispute with the father, Tolliver said. The three men walked to the 200 block of Porter Street where the fight turned physical.

At one point, the driver pulled out a gun, pointed it to the crowd that had gathered and said, “I am going to kill you all.” His friend directed him to put it away since children were present, but he repeated his action and statement again before the pair walked to the car and fled. No injuries were reported.

The driver was described as white, age 20 to 30, 5-foot-8, 200 pounds, having black hair and wearing a white tank top and blue jeans. His accomplice was described as black, age 20 to 25, 5-foot-5, 130 pounds, having multiple tattoos and wearing a white tank top and blue basketball shorts.
