Rifling through his pockets initiated thugs’ assault and robbery of a man in Point Breeze last week.

Authorities responded at 4:04 p.m. April 24 to a call of an incident in progress on the 1500 block of South 24th Street, where they located the complainant unresponsive on the highway, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. He noted that while he waited for a bus, an unknown man asked to use his phone. When he refused, another stranger arrived and went through his pockets.

The victim soon engaged in a struggle with the foreigners and several other men, who aided in punching and kicking him until he blacked out, Tolliver said. He sustained severe swelling to his left eye and bruising to his right orb and complained of pain to his entire body. He counted his Samsung Galaxy S4 cell phone and $350 missing, and described the first offender as black, 5-foot-10 and wearing a black or blue hoody and blue jeans. He classified the second as black, 5-foot-9 and wearing all black clothing. No further descriptions were available.
