A man allegedly robbed and punched a West Passyunk neighbor, but was arrested during the struggle.

A 64-year-old was sitting on his stoop when Thomas Guerriero, 32, of the 2200 block of South Garnet Street, asked him for $5, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The man only had a $20, so Guerriero is believed to have asked to use his phone. After the man handed Guerriero his phone, Guerriero allegedly snatched the $20 from his hand too and fled the area.

The 64-year-old pursued Guerriero and at 20th and Jackson they two began fighting with Guerriero supposedly punching the man in the face, Tolliver said. The man allegedly picked up a brick while Guerriero allegedly ran off again. Police saw the men on the 1900 block of West Passyunk Avenue and arrested Guerriero after the man’s phone dropped from his hands.

Guerriero was charged with robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and simple assault.
