A South of South vehicle theft backfired and resulted in the thieves robbing their victim instead.

A 31-year-old pizza deliveryman for SliCE, 1180 S. 10th St., waited for a customer to answer the door on the 1000 block of South Colorado Street when a man attempted to drive away in his automobile, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The pizza employee chased after the car and was able to stop the heist since a parked car was blocking the road. However, another man put a black handgun to his head, said, “Give me everything you got” and took about $250 and a cell phone from his pockets.

The offenders fled in a silver or champagne-colored Buick Regal from about 2002, which headed west on Washington Avenue, Tolliver said.

The pair of male perpetrators were described as black and age 16 to 17. The armed thief was 6 foot and wearing all black clothing while the other was 5-foot-8 and wearing all gray clothing.
