Man arrested for attack of Laguna Niguel real estate agent

John Glenn, a man described as a “transient,” was arrested Sunday on suspicion of attempted robbery and felony assault after he allegedly attacked a 55-year-old female real estate agent, the Orange County Register reported.

The unidentified agent was securing the lockbox of a home she had just listed when Glenn allegedly came at her from behind, punched her in the face, put her in a choke hold, and knocked her unconscious, according to sheriff’s deputies. She was taken to a hospital and released.

Glenn told investigators he had been under the influence of drugs and was trying to break into the house, deputies said. Investigators did not believe the agent had been targeted because of her profession, the paper said.

The September killing of Little Rock, Arkansas real estate agent Beverly Carter has rattled many in the real estate industry and sparked calls for agentsbrokersmultiple listing services and associations to adopt stricter safety protocols.
