A minor became a victim of an aggravated assault by a vehicle in Pennsport Friday.

At 6:40 p.m., authorities went to the 1800 block of South Second Street and learned the complainant had been riding his bike northbound on Second Street toward Mifflin Street when a taxi cab attempted to pass him on the right, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The boy began to lose his balance and grasped the driver’s mirror to keep from falling. He escaped the street and made it onto the sidewalk, where he contends the vehicle followed him.

The cab then struck the boy aboard his bicycle, pushing him four feet into the wall of a house and temporarily pinning him, Tolliver said. Breaking loose, he ran northbound on Second Street, but the ride revved down the street and skidded onto the sidewalk to cut him off. He finally ran southbound on Third Street and observed the cab, which he described as a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria with gold stripe down the side, immediately leaving the area. He received transport to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and could not offer a description of the aggressor.
