The Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Division confirmed Tuesday that personnel located a Toyota RAV4 belonging to Laura Araujo on the 1600 block of South Bambrey Street. The vehicle’s whereabouts had been a mystery since Monday’s announcement of her death in North Philly.

Authorities revealed they found the 23-year-old’s body badly beaten, strangled, wrapped in a trash bag and a blanket and placed in a duffel bag. Making their discovery at 5:30 a.m., they posited the death of the North Philadelphian as occurring four to eight hours prior. In declaring their findings, Capt. James Clark noted someone had set the automobile on fire. Police charged 22-year-old North Philly resident Jeremiah Jackson with murder, robbery, theft and related offenses Wednesday after he supposedly confessed to killing Araujo.
