Do a quick review of this year’s Sweet Tooth runners-up, and excluding the water ice category, there is a common theme: Termini Bros., 1523 S. Eighth St. and 1538 Packer Ave., appears in each one. While they may have fallen a few votes short of victory in the other categories, the establishment known for its “Gold Medal Pastry” can now celebrate its Readers’ Choice triumph in the cookie discipline. The website even includes a drop-down box entitled cookie collection, with options ranging from chocolate chips to pignoli cookies with imported nuts to the signature collection.
But the cookies are just one of many goodies this Passyunk Square baking institution has mastered through its 90-plus years and three generations of experience. Brothers Joseph and Vince Termini Jr. are now leading the operation that their grandfather Giuseppe and uncle Gaetano started.
Isgro placed an order for second while Poitito’s boxed up third.
