Intruder stabbed

Police responded to a person with a weapon on the 2500 block of Holbrook Street at 10 p.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, officers found Anthony June, 26, of Darby, on a neighbor’s porch bleeding and suffering from eight stab wounds to the back. June allegedly forced his way in through the front door of the 29-year-old woman’s home on the same block when she stabbed him multiple times after he attacked the victim and her son, according to a report.

June was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in critical condition and was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, burglary, criminal trespassing and related offences, according to court documents, while the woman was not charged since she acted in self defense.


Stabbed in chest

A 44-year-old man was killed inside his home with the suspected offender fleeing in a red vehicle Tuesday night.

Curtis Wallace, 44, of the 5900 block of Windsor Street, was stabbed inside his home at 12:38 a.m., Officer Jill Russell of the Police Public Affairs Unit said. Wallace, who was found unconscious lying on the living room floor with a stab wound to his chest, was pronounced at the scene less than 10 minutes later.

The female suspect fled west on Windsor Ave., toward 60th St. in a red vehicle potentially a Kia or Ford, according to a report.

Deli attack

A man remains in the hospital after a robbery of a local deli Monday afternoon for which one arrest has been made.

Two men entered Whalen’s Deli, 7400 Elmwood Ave., at 4 p.m. when one male acted like he intended to buy a roll of toilet paper until he pulled a gun on the cashier, according to a report. The 51-year-old owner started to walk toward the front of the store when he encountered the second suspect, who had a knife. The two struggled and the owner was stabbed several times in his back and hand. The offenders fled the store with an unknown amount of cash, said Officer Jill Russell of the Police Public Affairs Unit. They fled through the Rite Aid parking lot to Island Avenue and Theodore Street where they discarded the alleged knife used into the sewer. The owner was transported to HUP in critical, but stable condition, according to a report.

"" Terrell Nelson, 22, was arrested at his home on the 7000 block of Grays Avenue at 4 a.m. Tuesday while Zinnah Tobert, 20, was arrested at his home on the 7000 block of Wheeler Street at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Both were charged with attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, robbery, firearm violations and related offences.

Bar holdup

Two men held up a bar April 30 shooting one man and stealing from the register and patrons.

The perpetrators entered a bar on the 5700 block of Elmwood Avenue with guns and ordered all the patrons to the ground and the bartender to open the register, Officer Jill Russell of Police Public Affairs Unit said. The bartender gave up $250 while a few patrons were also robbed of money and cellphones. During the robbery one of the offenders fired a shot into the floor, which struck a 34-year-old male patron, who was transported to HUP, Russell said.

The men were described as black males in their 20s. The suspect who fired a shot was described as 5-foot-9 with a light complexion, black dreadlocks with blonde tips and wearing a dark hoody. The second offender was described as having a medium complexion, wearing a black jacket, dark hoody and carrying a semi-automatic handgun.

Light needed

After asking to borrow a lighter, passengers ordered a man inside their car and robbed him of his belongings Monday morning.

A 31-year-old male walked east on the 4900 block of Chester Avenue at 9:30 a.m. when a passenger from a passing ’96 or ’97 gray Chrysler asked the man for a light, according to a report. While he walked toward the vehicle, the front and rear passengers showed two small, semi-automatic handguns and asked him, "what you got on you?" The offenders ordered the man into the car, ripped his pants pockets and took $40 and two SEPTA tokens. The driver drove around for a little until letting him out at 45th Street and Kingsessing Ave., and driving south on 45th Street. The 31-year-old did not suffer any injuries.

Two of the males were described as black with a dark complexion – one wearing a black hoody and the other a black jacket. The third was described as a black male with a light complexion.

Debt paid

Three males sought money from a man, who owed two of them a total of $700, inside his home Monday evening.

Two of the men entered the 58-year-old man’s residence and demanded the $700 owed to them for odd jobs they did around his home, according to a report. Then another male entered his house on the 6200 block of Buist Ave., showed a handgun and asked for either the money or the man’s Social Security check. The gunman also instructed a woman to sit on the floor and not look at the trio. The suspects took the 58-year-old to the basement and he gave up $5,000 before the males fled in an unknown direction.

The offenders were described as white males. The first was heavy set, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 with light brown hair, a mustache and a beard. The second was thin, 6 foot with brown hair and wearing a dark hoody and jeans. The gunman was described as wearing a gray hoody.

Mother charged

A woman stabbed her daughter in the hand following an argument on April 28.

Paulette Thomas, 39, of the 2100 block of Shield Street, was in the midst of an argument with her 14-year-old daughter when the mother walked to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and allegedly stabbed the teen in her right hand, according to a report. The teenager left the home to call police and was transported to HUP.

The knife was recovered and Thomas was charged with aggravated assault and related charges.
