  1. A street vendor was shot on the job and is now immobile from the chest down.

A 45-year-old man was sitting near his goods consisting of cell phone cases and chargers at 5:30 p.m. March 17 on the 3000 block of Reed Street when Jack Harris, 24, is believed to have walked up and shot him in his leg, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.

“Where the money at?” Harris, of the Northeast supposedly asked. When the man claimed he didn’t have any, Harris supposedly shot him in the back, Tolliver said. Taking nothing, Harris allegedly walked up South Corlies Street and entered a black 2001 Lincoln sedan to flee the scene.

The man was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in critical but stable condition and is paralyzed as a result of the shooting, Tolliver said.

Harris was arrested at 7:45 p.m. on the 1300 block of South Corlies after witnesses identified him as the shooter, Tolliver said. He was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, simple assault, robbery, attempted theft, firearm violations and related offenses.
