Housing project receives funding

Construction is set for 15 total housing units in Point Breeze to be called Patriot House, after the project was awarded a $250,000 grant from Pittsburgh’s Affordable Housing Program.

Patriot House will provide permanent housing for homeless men and women who are veterans with mental health or substance abuse disorders. Three-story buildings will be constructed at 1221-15 S. 15th St. and 1232-34 Carlisle St., creating a total of 13 one-bedroom apartments and two efficiencies. Construction is expected to be completed by late fall.

Patriot House is one of six Philadelphia housing projects receiving an equal grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank as part of the Affordable Housing Program. Patriot House is the only project located in South Philadelphia and will acquire approximately $3 million in total development costs.
