A woman lent a lighter to a man who then robbed her as she walked home from a West Passyunk convenience store Thursday.
The 20-year-old was inside 7-Eleven, 2300 W. Passyunk Ave., at 4:04 a.m. when an unknown man asked to borrow her lighter, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. She agreed and, as she was leaving, he returned it. While on the 2300 block of South Bonsall Street, he ran up behind her, grabbed her, reached into her bra, pulled out $47 and threw her to the ground. The thief fled northbound on Bucknell Street.
The offender was described as black, 5-foot-10; having a medium build and unkempt hair; and wearing a white T-shirt, tan cargo shorts and white sneakers.
