After hearing about eight gunshots, two family members were wounded as they were sitting on the front steps of a Hawthorne home on Labor Day.
Police arrived on the 1300 block of Catharine Street at 1:57 p.m. Monday where they found two wounded teens lying on the street, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.
The 19-year-old felt his back burning, so he fled, but fell to the ground a block east, Tolliver said. The 18-year-old also fled, but was struck in the right foot.
Both men were transported to Jefferson in stable condition, Tolliver said.
Ballistics evidence was recovered at the scene. No description of the offender was provided.
