A group of teens jumped another in Newbold, striking him in the back of the  head with a brick, in an attempt to steal his bicycle.

About six 15- to 16-year-olds approached the 15-year-old as he was riding along Snyder Avenue near 15th Street at 8:48 p.m. Aug. 19, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. As one threw a punch at him, the others blocked his escape.

When he hopped off the bike, the six began punching him and one grabbed the bike. The boy held on to the tire, but was slammed in the back of the head with a brick by one of the teens. When the group noticed the boy bleeding from the blow to his head, they fled without the bike.

The victim was transported by medic to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was treated and released, Tolliver said. Members of the group were described as being about 5-foot-4 and thin with dark complexions; two were described as wearing white T-shirts, one a black shirt and another a red polo shirt.
