An East Passyunk Crossing man was caught hiding in the closet of a Whitman property he allegedly burglarized.
A witness spotted Carlos Mandragon, 35, of the 700 block of Snyder Avenue, allegedly leaving a building on the 400 block of Ritner Street with a hank truck piled with boxes at 11 a.m. and thought he was the 64-year-old property owner’s employee, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. However, when he noticed Mandragon allegedly enter its first-floor window at 5:27 p.m. Feb. 5, he became suspicious.
Police and the owner walked through the property and discovered Mandragon inside a second-floor closet, Tolliver said. Twenty ceiling fans and 10 faucets, valued at $2,200, were missing from the property.
Mandragon was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, criminal mischief, theft and receiving stolen property.
