A burglar rid a Hawthorne establishment of its ice cream maker last week.
At approximately 3 a.m. March 27, an unknown offender used an open front patio door to enter Tashan Restaurant, 777 S. Broad St., to remove the treat producer, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Processing the scene and interviewing staff, detectives learned from a manager that he had locked the door about an hour before the incident and had used the main front door to exit.
The worker added the suspect entered the site with a box, gained access through the open door and located the machine easily despite darkness, Tolliver said. The burglar took the machine, two ice cream scoopers and four stainless steel milkshake cups. Tashan’s video system captured the incident, but the site provided no information on the offender.
