A man took money out of an ATM to give to an unknown male who requested cash only to get mugged minutes later by another in Bella Vista.

An unknown man approached a 26-year-old at 8:30 p.m. Sunday on the 700 block of South Street and asked for some money, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The man agreed and withdrew $10 from an ATM and handed it to the man, who went on his way north on Seventh Street.

The 26-year-old headed west on South when another man approached him and said, “I have a gun. Give me your credit card,” Tolliver said. The man complied and the thief fled east on South Street.

The man went home and did not report the crime until he cancelled his card the next day and discovered $469 was taken from his account, Tolliver said. The bank advised him to file a police report.

The first suspect was described as black, in his late 30s, 5-foot-11, thin and wearing a white button-down dress shirt, black slacks, black shoes and a gray peacoat. The second was described as black, in his late 30s, 5-foot-11, 200 pounds and wearing a brown leather jacket, maroon shirt, dark-colored jeans, tan boots and sunglasses.
