A teen was held at gunpoint after exiting a Passyunk Square subway stairwell Monday.
An unknown man approached a 17-year-old as he exited the station on the 1300 block of Federal Street at 10:18 p.m., Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. He asked for a $1, which the teen gave him, and then to borrow his cell phone, but the teen claimed his phone was dead. The beggar stepped closer, pushed a silver handgun to his ribs and said, “This is a stickup.” The teen handed him $17 and his iPhone 4 before he ran away.
The offender was described as black with a medium complexion, age 30, 5-foot-7, 125 pounds; having a salt-and-pepper-colored beard, no mustache and a brown, wooden cane; and wearing an orange vest, brown shirt, dark-colored cargo shorts, an orange baseball cap and thick, dark sunglasses.
