Police found a blood trail stretching the length of a Grays Ferry block before locating the victim at the hospital.

A man, who had been shot in the right thigh, left a trail of blood as he hailed a taxi traveling along the 1300 block of South 33rd Street at 1:27 a.m. Sunday, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Although the cabbie was off duty, he transported the 20-year-old to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he immediately was taken into the operating room for surgery. Police were unable to interview him as of press time.
