A spat left a Garden State resident dead and another arrested in Queen Village Sunday.

Having learned a fight had begun inside the Mixed Plate, 216 South St., authorities responded to a call of multiple gunshots on the 100 block of South Street at 1:27 a.m., Officer Christine O’Brien of the Police Public Affairs Unit said. They observed a man firing a weapon in the direction before he fled the area, with his eventual capture by bicycle police on Front and Bainbridge streets.

As a result of the alleged shots from Willingboro, N.J., resident Lance Smith, 24, multiple bullets struck 21-year-old Demetry Presley of Sicklerville, N.J., in the head and chest, with officials transporting him to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he died at 7:35 p.m, O’Brien said. Authorities, who recovered the firearm supposedly used in the shooting, charged Smith with murder, aggravated and simple assault and related offenses. He awaits a Dec. 4 preliminary hearing.
