A Grays Ferry woman allegedly set her boyfriend’s car on fire after a dispute.

A 35-year-old man and his live-in girlfriend, Synethia Williams, 35, of the 1500 block of South Garnet Street, were arguing about another woman, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The live-in boyfriend left the house briefly, but upon his return the debate continued. Williams allegedly set a roll of paper towels on fire and quickly put out the flame in the kitchen sink. When the man left the residence again, he noticed Williams allegedly throwing trash inside his 2000 Dodge before setting it ablaze.

The fire department put out the fire and declared it arson, Tolliver said.

Williams was charged with arson, risking catastrophe and possession of an instrument of crime. Her bail was set at $25,000.
