A West Passyunk man allegedly rear ended a man’s motorcycle, punched the driver in the face and attempted to flee the scene Friday.

A 22-year-old was stationary on his motorcycle on the 100 block of Snyder Avenue when Edward Durham, 21, of the 1900 block of Point Breeze Avenue, stopped behind him at about 6:30 p.m., Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Durham allegedly backed up and then drove forward into the motorcycle. He then is believed to have exited his vehicle and punched the biker multiple times in the face causing cuts and bruises to his upper lip, nose and right cheek. Durham attempted to leave the area, but police detained him upon arrival.

The biker was transported to Jefferson in stable condition, Tolliver said. Aside from his facial injuries, he suffered a bruised and sprained right knee and ankle.

Durham was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of an instrument of crime, criminal mischief, accident involving death or injury when not properly licensed, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked and accident involving damage to an attended vehicle or property.
