Failing after falling

A man could not prevent becoming the victim for two robbers in South of South Friday.

The complainant met with authorities at 7:12 p.m. on the 700 block of South Colorado Street and told them two unknown men had approached him. He developed bad feelings about the two as he talked on his cell phone, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said, and determined to run from the area.

Upon making that decision, he fell to the ground and dropped his cell phone, with the first offender standing in front of him to retrieve the gadget. As he did so, the handle of a firearm tucked into his pants became visible to the victim, who parted with his wallet thanks to the other figure, Tolliver said. They fled right after, last seen heading southbound on Colorado Street. The complainant described them as black, with the first 6 foot, 20 to 25 years old, having a thin build and a handgun and wearing a black hoodie, a wool cap and jeans; and the second as 5-foot-10, 20 to 25 years old, having a medium build and a beard and wearing a black hoodie.
